Notifications
Notifications tell people about an incident without requiring them to be in the console. Email and chat channels are routed by severity and role.
How it works#
A notification channel is a place where MonitOps sends messages: email or chat. Routing decides who is notified on which channel, based on the incident's severity and the recipient's role (see Roles and access).
| Moment | What is notified |
|---|---|
| Incident open | An incident has opened |
| Escalation | An incident has escalated |
| Recommendation | An action has been recommended |
| Approval requested | An action is waiting for an approver |
| Resolution | An incident has resolved |
What you see in the console#
Notification channels are a planned capability. This article describes the routing model only; the settings of a channel are not described yet.
Limits and defaults#
- Channels are email and chat.
- Routing is by severity and role.
Failure states#
This article describes no failure states yet. Delivery to ticketing and fault management, which already have queues and visible backlogs, is described in Destinations.
