Dashboards and reports

Dashboards are arranged by your team. Reports are produced on a schedule.

Dashboards#

Widgets#

A dashboard is a grid of widgets. Widgets include health lists, stats, time series and incident lists. You can add, resize, reorder and remove widgets on the grid and save the layout. A change to a dashboard needs no code.

Describing a panel#

Type what you want to see, such as error rate by integration service, last hour. MonitOps builds a widget for it. Before the widget renders, its query is validated against the signal catalogue, the list of signals the product knows, with their units and dimensions. A request that cannot be validated is refused with the reason, and no widget is created.

Dashboards for systems and channels#

The console provides one dashboard per system and one by channel, alongside an incident and alarm trend dashboard. Administrators manage dashboards (see Roles and access). Dashboards update without a refresh, and a freshness indicator shows how current the data is.

Wall mode#

Wall mode removes the console chrome for operations-centre screens. Sessions on wall screens have an exception to the one-session and timeout rules (see Roles and access).

Reports#

A report covers incidents, availability and alert volumes over the period you choose.

PeriodThe period you choose
ScheduleRecurring, on a schedule you set
FormatPDF, CSV, XLSX or JSON
DeliveryEmail, webhook or API
AttributesConfigurable per report

Aggregates are kept beyond raw telemetry retention, so reports over longer periods still work after raw data has expired (see Deployment and operations).

Classification#

Exported reports can carry a classification label and a watermark.

Procedure#

  1. Open Dashboards and select a dashboard, or create one.
  2. Add a widget from the list of widget kinds, or describe the panel you want.
  3. Resize and reorder the widgets on the grid.
  4. Save the layout.
  5. For a report, choose the content, period, format, delivery and schedule, and save.

What you see in the console#

The dashboard shows the grid with a freshness indicator. The describe-a-panel input shows either the new widget or the refusal reason.

Limits and defaults#

  • Raw telemetry is kept for 90 days by default; aggregates for reports are kept longer.
  • Only validated queries render.
  • Dashboards are changed by administrators.

Failure states#

StateWhat you see
Panel request cannot be validatedA refusal with the reason; no widget
Stale dataThe freshness indicator shows that data is older than expected
